Volunteering at Statesville Road
Volunteers are an invaluable component of our overall school success.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools has developed the Volunteer Management System as a means to record your volunteer time. The primary focus of the program is to ensure our studentsx safety at school. In addition, the computer system allows Statesville Elementary to stand out as a leader in effectively incorporating volunteers into the overall program by documenting the vast number of hours that our volunteers dedicate to our school.
We ask that you keep in mind the following questions as you decide to go to the CMS Volunteer website (http://volunteer.cms.k12.nc.us) to sign up as a volunteer:
- Will you participate in any P.T.A. functions? (Requires a Level 1 Screening)
- Do you plan to eat lunch with your child or help with class celebrations during the school year? (Requires a Level 2 Screening)
- Do you plan to go on a field trip any time this year with your childxs class? (Requires a Level 3 Screening, including a background check and three references)
- Will you serve as a tutor for any students at our school? (Requires a Level 4 Screening, including a background check and three references)
The on-line form only takes a few minutes to fill out and submit. Keep in mind that if you want to become a Level 3 or Level 4 volunteer you will need to submit three reference forms. The references are good for a lifetime; however, the background check will be renewed every two years. Once you have filled out your screening form, one of the school level Volunteer Coordinators will give you a Level 1 or Level 2 status so that you can begin volunteering. When you come to the school to volunteer, please come to the front office to sign in on the volunteer computer and get your visitorxs badge. We sincerely thank you for your dedication to our school and your willingness to assist us in ensuring the safety of our students. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Jannie Harris our Volunteer Coordinator.
