Spartan Chronicle

The Spartan Chronicle is Sedgefield Middle School's biweekly newsletter.  It is created by the members of the journalism class during ninth period.  Members of the journalism class are sixth, seventh and eighth grade students.  The students are responsible for story ideas, factual research and student or faculty interviews.  All students serve as reporters.  There is a student photographer and two student editors/layout designers.  The class is taught by Ms. Spencer, who also serves in the capacity of senior editor.  Staff member, Mrs. Beach, serves as a contributing senior editor to the student newsletter.

The journalism class encourages students to use what they are learning in their language arts classes, build upon it and apply that knowledge when creating the student newsletter.  Students are also using the computer software skills they are acquiring in their career and technical classes or if they are not currently enrolled in the CTE program; students are able to learn those skills while engaging in journalism activities.

Students are able to make valuable connections to what they learn and current world events by reporting the news, researching the facts and creating the newsletter.  Please contact Ms. Spencer at 980.343-5840 if you would like any additional information.
