Enrolling Your Child

The following documents must be provided in order to complete the registration process for your child at Ridge Road Middle School:

1. Proof of Residence (3 documents required as of November 5, 2008)
Parents must supply one proof from each column on the Proof of Residency page.

Please also include these other student records so that we may place your child appropriately:
1. Test scores - E.O.G. results (standardized test scores)
2. Current grades; include most current report card and any past report cards with grading scales
3. IEP (if applicable to your child)
4. Documentation of any special services (Example: 504 plan)

What do I need to bring to enroll my child(ren)? New Student Enrollment Form | Formulario De Matricula Escolar Certified Birth Certificate (no hospital, souvenir or Mother copies) Proof of Mecklenburg County Residency Current immunization record
Where can I submit my enrollment forms? You can submit enrollment forms to any CMS school or the Student Assignment at the Family Application Center.
When is the deadline to enroll for school? CMS usually starts enrolling for the upcoming school year in October. Families can enroll throughout the year. There are enrollment deadlines for the magnet school lotteries.
Will my child be eligible to ride a bus? Bus transportation will be provided to the following:
- Students who attend their home school. Each Mecklenburg County address has been assigned an elementary, middle and high school known as the home school. Students are automatically assigned to their home school upon enrollment.
- Students who attend a magnet program that serves their transportation zone. The county is divided into four transportation zones. Magnet schools serve one or more transportation zones. These assignments are made through the Student Assignment/Magnet Lottery.
- Students who are assigned to non-Title I Choice schools through the No Child Left Behind Law. These assignments are made through the Student Assignment/Magnet Lottery.
- Students assigned to non-magnet schools with space. These schools are identified annually by Student Placement and assigned through the Student Assignment/Magnet Lottery.
- Students who are impacted by the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. For more information, contact your school liaison.
