Duke TIP:   DUKE TALENT IDENTIFICATION PROGRAM

The Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) is a non-profit educational organization whose primary purpose is to identity and serve academically gifted youth.  The program serves students in grades 4 and up.  Students, parents, educators and schools benefit from the program through Duke’s challenging educational programs, information, advocacy and research.  Duke TIP enables students to reach their optimal educational potential. 

Letters are sent to students who scored 95th percentile or better on EOGs in Math or Reading in the previous year. Spelling Bee:   SCRIPPS NATIONAL SPELLING BEE

Geography Bee:   NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC GEOGRAPHY BEE

 

Each year, Randolph students are challenged to participate in the Geography Bee.  Learn about the world we live in as you prepare for this competition.  Please visit www.nationalgeographic.com/geobee/ for more information.  The site offers a 10 question quiz every day.  There are also maps and other information.  Additional resources are available at http://www.nationalgeographic.com/geographybee/study_corner.html. Scholastic Challenge:  AMERICAN SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVEMENT LEAGUE SCHOLASTIC CHALLENGE

Shakespeare:   ANNUAL SHAKESPEARE COMPETITION

 

Wingate University hosts the annual Shakespeare competition for this region.  The national competiton is sponsored by the English Speaking Union of the United States.  The purpose of the competition is to bring Shakespeare to life by expressing his words with feeling, clarity and full knowledge of their meaning and intent.  Participants memorize and perform a monologue and sonnet.  For more information, please visit http://pages.cms.k12.nc.us/carrienagle/shakespeareclub.html or contact Mrs. Duff. AMC: AMERICAN MATH COMPETITION

 

The Mathematical Association of America sponsors annual competitions take a progression of tests.  The goal is to strengthen the mathematical capabilities of students.  The contest identifies, recognizes and rewards excellence in mathematics.  Tests are multiple choice and problems range from easy to extremely difficult.  Please contact Mr. Pillsbury for more information.

PTA Reflections Logo: PTSA REFLECTIONS CONTEST
