Title I Letter - English
August 15, 2009
Dear Parent or Guardian,
We want to notify you that Rama Road Elementary will be a Title I school beginning in the 2009-2010 school-year. We have been selected to be a Title I school based on the fact that we have greater than 75% of students receiving free or reduced price lunch. Our Title I program will receive federal funds that will allow us to supplement the efforts the District is making and provide selected students with extra instruction, their teachers with additional professional development, and their families with more opportunities to engage in students’ learning both at school and at home. Our school will be implementing a targeted assistance model, which means we will be looking at our students’ needs and serving those who are most at risk of not meeting the state academic standards.
When school begins in the fall, all parents will be invited to our Annual Title I Meeting, where you will find out more about our targeted assistance program, including your rights and responsibilities as a parent in a Title I school and how students will be selected to participate in this program. As we plan for this process, we would like to invite you to share with us your input and concerns.
We will be serving grades 3,4, and 5 in our program. You have the right to indicate whether or not your child needs Title I support. If you are a parent of a child in those identified grades, please complete the attached form, indicating whether or not you would like your child to receive Title I services, and return it to the school.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. We are very excited about this opportunity for our school.
Sincerely,
Brian Bambauer
