No Child Left Behind
The No Child Left Behind Act, signed into law in 2002, has expanded the federal role in education and set requirements in place that affect every public school in America, including those in North Carolina. At the core of No Child Left Behind are measures designed to close achievement gaps between different groups of students. The Public Schools of North Carolina has produced a web site addresses key NCLB elements as they are implemented in North Carolina including methods of measuring progress in students’ academic achievement, standards for teachers, and ramifications for Title I schools.
