We are proud to announce an expansion, starting in the Fall of 2010, of our language immersion program by adding a Spanish immersion middle school to our currently successful program.

Welcome Letter from our Principal
Oaklawn Academy is a full magnet offering language immersion education in Spanish for grades K thru 5. The curriculum is modeled upon the highly successful programs at Smith Academy and Collinswood Elementary where language immersion students have historically excelled in standardized tests. Language immersion education uses a foreign language as a medium of instruction for the standard course of study. Research confirms the benefits of language immersion education go beyond acquiring a foreign language to improve skills in math and science in higher grades. Native speakers from throughout the world staff our newly renovated building, located near Uptown Charlotte.
