Jeffrey Ruppenthal, Principal  Our Mission Mountain Island Elementary is a school of high expectations that works collaboratively with our families and the community to create lifelong learners and responsible citizens. Vision Mountain Island Elementary's vision is to provide an optimal learning environment to best prepare students to become productive participants in an increasingly diverse global community. Our school cares about the environment, so we have decided to eliminate as many paper products as possible when communicating with our students and staff.  Rather than printing our meeting agendas, we display them on the overhead.  We email our weekly communique.  We post important information on the Public Folder on our computer network.  We are posting grade level newsletters on their websites rather than printing off paper copies to send home. Our PTA has taken important action to help our efforts at being more environmentally friendly.  Instead of handing out hundreds of paper copies of PTA information in Thursday Folders, we will begin sending out an email on Thursdays with necessary information and attachments.  We will also post these items on this website under the link Thursday Folders.
