Community pond
On Saturday, March 8, the School of Math, Engineering, Technology, and Science (METS) at the Olympic Community of Schools created a new pond ecosystem on the school campus. Parents, students, faculty and community volunteers joined together to create an environment consisting of a waterfall, colorful plants and fish that not only beautified the school campus but also provided a learning environment of the underlying ecosystem for students

The construction of the pond was made possible through cooperative efforts from Lowe’s Toolbox for Education, Smith Turf and Irrigation, Pike Family Nursery and Pondscapes of Charlotte, who led the installation.

METS became the first participant of Pondscapes of Charlotte in the North American Water Garden Societies’ "Ponds for Kids Program."
Special thanks to the crew who spent their Saturday building the pond.
