The PTA and the Character Education Committee are sponsoring a “gently used book” drive for the students at Berryhill Elementary School.  Please send in books Monday, February 1st through Friday, February 12th. Creating an instructional environment that facilitates learning and uses available resources to meet individual student needs. High academic standards and high ethical standards are inseparably connected. Partnerships between the home, school, and community are vital to providing a supportive learning environment. All students have talents that should be recognized and built upon for the good of community and society.   Our Vision We the student, parents, educators, and community are committed to academic excellence and service to others.     McKee Road Elementary School, established in 1989, is located in the southern corner of Mecklenburg County, near I-485 and Providence Road.  The facility is built for 630 students.  Our current enrollment is 503 students.  Of these students, 73.6% are white, 7.1% are African American, 4.8% Hispanic, 8.9% Asian, and 5.6% Multiracial.  McKee has a total of 81 staff members.  Forty percent of the staff hold advanced degrees and 8 are now National Board Certified Teachers (NBCT).  According to the latest North Carolina state report card, 100% of our classes are taught by highly qualified teachers.  A strong mentor program is in place to assist new teachers and buddies are assigned to those with experiences but new to the district.
