About Lansdowne

Lansdowne is a part of the new East Learning Community of CMS. Located in Southeast Charlotte off Providence Road, we are proud of our achievements at Lansdowne. For the past three years, we have made our AYP goals and we have also proudly maintained the status of being a School of Distinction for this same time period. With students from over 20 countries, Lansdowne has a full-time English Language Learner teacher working with these students daily.

Lansdowne Elementary School is a prospective International Baccalaureate School. As part of our International Baccalaureate Program, we focus on Internationalism in our instruction and the ELL students bring their knowledge and experiences into the classroom to enrich our lessons. We have been designated as an IB Candidate School and we are seeking authorization to become an International Baccalaureate World School. More information about the IB program at Lansdowne can be found on the IB link.

Although our school was constructed in the early 50's, our physical facility has undergone renovation and the classrooms are filled with innovative teaching and learning resources that are designed to support our diverse population. We have a spacious media center that is equipped for research based instruction, SMART Board technology, and a TV studio from which the morning news is broadcast. We have a fully equipped computer lab and each classroom has three networked computers, all of which are connected to the Internet so classroom research can be conducted.

The school hours are from 9:15-3:30 and students may report to the school at 8:45. We have a Before School Program which begins at 7:00 am, as well as an After School Enrichment Program, which lasts until 6:00 pm.

School clubs/activities include Safety Patrol, Math Olympiad, Odyssey of the Mind, IB Service Club, Chess Club, and Student Council. Throughout the year, after- school tutoring is also provided to our students.
