Welcome

To Our Hive!

Hornets Nest Elementary School opened in 1991 and later became a Communication Arts Magnet School. It is a kindergarten through grade 5 school with an enrollment of approximately 865 students. Even though we are no longer classified as a magnet school, we continue to offer and expect high expectations of learning for our students.

Hornets Nest teachers have been featured on CMS News on Channel Three and Department Public Instruction. Hornets Nest Elementary has strong special area programs in place. Students participate in Jump Rope for Heart, Accelerated Reader, Arts in the Park, and various special presentations.

The school has been in existence for 19 years. The school facility includes three sections of mobile units situated behind the building. These units house all second and third grades including seven second and third grade intensive literacy classes with highly qualified teachers instructing, teaching and nurturing the students to higher levels of learning.
