School Profile: Eastover Elementary School has been providing quality education to students since 1935. The mission of Eastover Elementary School is to provide each student a differentiated and challenging education in a safe, supportive environment that promotes self-discipline, motivation, and excellence in learning. Students attending Eastover enter Alexander Graham Middle School and Myers Park High School. Eastover was the first elementary school in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School (CMS) district to have successfully implemented a required uniform policy. Uniforms strengthen school unity and foster a sense of pride among Eastover students. Eastover has approximately 565 students (2008) in grades Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Eastover’s student population is very diverse. In addition to challenging and innovative instruction in the regular classroom, we offer excellent services for the visually impaired. Eastover’s instructional team includes 37% with advanced degrees, 63 % with 4+ years experience, 4% National Board certification. Eastover’s PTA has one of the most active memberships in Mecklenburg County.  It supports the school community by raising money each year to support school-wide initiatives including: providing technology for the 21st century learner, staff development support, additional classroom materials, library books, our Accelerated Reader subscription, classroom libraries, cultivating community partners, and organizing a variety of activities for prospective, new and current families.
