Dilworth Visual and Performing Arts students succeed academically, artistically and socially while making lasting and diverse friendships. The school provides flexible, skill-based groupings for students in core subjects to address the needs of individual students. The arts are integrated into the classroom as teaching and learning tools in support of the core curriculum. In addition to physical education and media classes, students receive weekly arts instruction in drama, dance, music, and visual arts. Partnerships with local artists enhance students' exploration of the arts.We invite you to come and visit!
The Dilworth Dalmatians Are On The Move !!!!
2010-2011 school year will bring great changes to Dilworth as we move to the heart of uptown Charlotte and become First Ward Visual and Performing Art Magnet Elementary School!!The urban setting of the school is within walking distance of many museums and cultural resources. The staff and students will utilize these resources and many uptown connections to extend classroom learning with authentic experiences and opportunities at the Afro-American Cultural Center, the Mint Museum, ImaginOn, the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, Discovery Place, the Levine Museum of the New South, and others.

Our spring Book Fair, the Book Fair Diner, is coming your way February 1 – 5, serving up an "all you can read" menu of delectable books. All proceeds will benefit our school’s reading resources. We must have at least 2 or more volunteers at the Fair at all times. Many more will be needed for Thursday’s FAMILY NIGHT event. It’s a lot of fun, a good way to meet other Dilworth School parents, and a great way to find out about new books and which ones are popular with the students.
To volunteer, please contact Laura Rice at 704-877-8344 or at Lrice2@carolina.rr.com. Volunteers are asked to sign up for 2-hour shifts, if possible (but any and all help will be appreciated!)
