January 26, 2010

Cotswold School's Science Fair was held on January 26, 2010.  We had over 85 entries as well as 24 classroom projects!

We would like to thank all staff and Myers Park High School students who helped with the fair.  A special thanks goes out to the Science Fair committee members who helped and organized in many ways: Ms. Hooks, Mrs. Harding, Mrs. King, and Ms. Moras.

The 2010 Science Fair awards were as follows:

Kindergarten: 1st Place- Shannon Jelks
First Grade: 1st Place- Lilly Marie Sweet
                    2nd Place- Eva Gerald
                    3rd Place- Katherine Pietak
Second Grade: 1st Place- Matthew Huff
                        2nd Place- Haley Allison
                        3rd Place- Maria Stefanidou
Third Grade: 1st Place- Mackenzie Urbanski
                     2nd Place- Abena-Adora Gwin
                     3rd Place- Nate Lueders
Fourth Grade: 1st Place- Lauren Mobley
                       2nd Place- Diamond Wallace
                      3rd Place- Landon Sule and Anna Cottrell (team)
Fifth Grade: 1st Place- Abram Magaldi
                    2nd Place- Piper Strzelecki
                    3rd Place- Hannah and Abby Shepard-Moore (team)
Ms. Berry's 2nd grade class project won in the K-2 division and Mrs. Laine's 3rd grade class project won for the 3-5 division.

The following students went on to compete at the Regional Science Fair held at UNCC on February 13, 2010:

Mackenzie Urbanski

Mackenzie Urbanski won 3rd place in the overall elementary division for Earth Sciences!
